Heraeus Refinery SA (Pty) (www.wc-heraeus.com) Ltd. has been in operation in Port Elizabeth since 2003 and make high quality precious metal chemical compounds. We employ around 90 people in total and are ISO9001 and ISO14001 accredited. Currently the vast majority of production goes into the local market.
Currently we make all the osmium compounds as listed. For the iridium and ruthenium products, we do have the know-how to make all these products, but currently not the capacity or manpower. The idea of this marketing exercise is to also get a feeling for what the export market potential is. We will then start to use our existing equipment for products in highest demand – but ultimate we would of course like to buy more equipment, get more people and export more. We also make K2Pt(NO2)4 (that is potassium platinum nitrate) and palladium acetate.
