신명진 회장, 문 대통령 베트남․UAE 경제사절단 참가
신명진 회장은 3월22일부터 28일까지 문재인 대통령 베트남․아랍에미리트(UAE) 경제사절단에 참가해 통상확대 부문에서 큰 성과를 올렸다.
신 회장은 베트남에서 한-베트남 비즈니스 포럼, 베트남무역진흥공사(VIETRADE) 사장 면담, 현지 성공기업 방문 및 현지 기업인 간담회 등의 일정을 소화했다. 이어 UAE로 이동해 한-UAE 비즈니스 포럼, 아부다비 상의 방문, 두바이 국제금융센터와 두바이 스타트업 지원센터 방문, 무역협회 UAE센터 개소식에 참석하는 등 활발한 활동을 펼치며 각국과의 통상확대에 기여했다.
이번 사절단의 방문국인 베트남은 한국의 4대 교역국이고, 한국은 베트남의 2대 교역국이다. 베트남은 우리 정부가 추진하는 신남방정책의 핵심파트너로서 2013년 양국 정상이 합의한 2020년까지 700억불 교역액 목표를 상향해 1,000억불로 수정하는 등 협력의 속도가 가속화되고 있다. UAE는 원유매장량 세계 6위, 가스매장량 세계 7위를 기록하고 있는 자원부국으로, 지속적인 네트워크를 유지하며 새로운 비즈니스 기회 창출에 활용할 필요가 있다.
Chairman Shin Participates in Economic Mission to Vietnam and UAE, as Part of President Moon’s Visit
Chairman Myoung-jin Shin participated in the Economic Mission to Vietnam and the UAE along with Korean President Moon Jae-in during his visit to the two nations from March 22 to 28, and gained meaningful results. Chairman Shin attended the Korea-Vietnam Business Forum, met with the president of VIETRADE, visited successful local companies, and attended a meeting with local business executives . Dr. Shin moved to the UAE and contributed to the expansion of trade with the UAE by participating in the Korea-UAE Business Forum, visited the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce, the Dubai International Financial Center and the Dubai Start-up Support Center, and attended the opening ceremony for the Korea International Trade Association's UAE Center.
Vietnam is the fourth-largest trading partner of Korea, and Korea is the second-largest trading partner of Vietnam. As a key partner for the Korea’s new policy paradigm of “New South Asian policy” announced by the Korean government, Korea and Vietnam are accelerating the pace of cooperation such as boosting their trade target up to US$100 billion by 2020, from US$70 billion, as agreed by the two heads of nations in 2013. The UAE is a resource-rich country with the 6th-largest crude oil reserves and 7th-largest gas reserves in the world. Clearly, Korea needs to steadily maintain a network with the UAE and utilize it to create new business opportunities.
