신명진 회장은 9월10일부터 13일까지 전경련과 함께 경제계 미션단에 참가, 베트남 하노이와 호치민을 방문했다. 이번 방문은 오는 11월 협회 수입사절단의 베트남 파견을 앞두고 베트남 중앙정부 및 시정부 주요 인사를 만나 협회의 역할 및 주요 활동을 알리는 계기가 되었다.
베트남은 한국의 4대 교역국이며, 한국은 베트남의 2대 교역국이자 1대 투자국으로 베트남 현지에 약 4,000여개의 한국기업이 진출해 있다. 또한 우리 정부가 추진하고 있는 신남방정책의 핵심파트너로서 2013년에 합의한 700억불 교역액 목표를 올해 3월 양국 정상이 목표를 2020까지 1,000억불로 상향하기로 합의하는 등 협력의 속도가 가속화되고 있다. 우리 정부는 10년 전 전략적 협력 동반자 관계를 수립한 이후 양국 협력의 범위가 확대되는 모습에 포괄적 전략적 동반자 관계로 한 단계 격상하기도 했다.
신 회장은 응우옌 쑤언 푹 베트남 총리, 과학기술부 장관, 하노이 및 호치민 시장을 예방하고 베트남 농협, 베트남 상의 등 유관기관의 주요 인사들을 만나 베트남 제품의 수출촉진을 위해 우리 협회가 보인 그간의 노력을 설명하는 등 양국간 산업 및 통상협력 기반을 강화했다. 아울러 한화에어로스페이스 등 현지에 진출한 한국기업을 방문하는 등 알찬 일정을 소화했다.

FKI’s Economic Mission to Vietnam
Chairman Myoung-jin Shin joined the FKI’s Economic
Mission to Vietnam from Sep. 10~13, and visited Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City in
Vietnam. The Economic Mission presented a good opportunity to introduce the role
and major activities of KOIMA to important officials in the central government
of Vietnam, as well as of municipal government of Ho Chi Minh City, prior to
the dispatch of KOIMA’s Import
Delegation to Vietnam in coming
November.
Vietnam is one of Korea's four major trade partners, and
Korea, being one of the two largest trade partners and top investing country in
Vietnam, has more than 4,000 companies in the country. Vietnam is also one of the core partners in the “New Southern Policy” of the Korean government, and the
pace of cooperation is accelerating after the heads of the two governments
agreed on increasing the total trade turnover goal to USD100 billion by 2020, from
the previous goal of USD70 billion agreed to in 2013. The Korean government
also elevated the relationship with Vietnam as a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership,
since the establishment of a Strategic Partnership with the country more than
10 years ago, based on the expansion of sectors of cooperation.
KOIMA Chairman Myoung-jin Shin, as a member of the FKI’s Economic
Mission to Vietnam, had a meeting with Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc of
Vietnam, as well as the Minister of Science and Technology, and mayors of Hanoi
and Ho Chi Minh City, plus officials
of relevant organizations, such as the Farmer’s Union, and the Vietnam Chamber
of Commerce and Industry (VCCI),
to strengthen the industrial and trade bases of the two countries by explaining
KOIMA’s efforts in enhancing exports of Vietnamese
products to Korea. The Chairman also visited Korean companies that advanced to
the Vietnamese market, such as Hanwha Aerospace Co,. Ltd.
